Defence Industry Day held on 14 DEC

On 14 December the BALTDEFCOL hosted the Defence Industry Day which formed a part of the curriculum of the JCGSC 2009/2010 and the HCSC 2009. In addition to the BALTDEFCOL students and staff members representatives of Estonia Defence Industry Union and students from the Tartu University were also attended the event.

Defence Industry Day was opened by BALTDEFCOL Commandant BG Gundars Abols and panel discussions were lead by BALTDEFCOL Dean Dr James S. Corum.

The event consisted of the following presentations: Technology vs. human factors by Ms Koivisto from INSTA; NC3A catalogue of products and services by Mr bruce MacLennan from NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency, Defence industries and defence procurement by small nations presented by Air Cdr (R) Steele; Presentation on Estonia defence industry made by Mr Taklaja from Rantelon; Lithuania Defence Industry presentation by Dr LTC (ret) Vaclovas Jonevicius from Transport Engineering Institute of Vilnius University; Defence industry, small state specific, lessons learned and effectiveness of offset bargains in military related purchases and BAE SYSTEMS by Mr Vyborny; and Finmeccanica experience with joint international procurement by Mr Uccella representing Finmeccanica.
